Your UConn Reads Reading Guide

Engage one another in our University-wide conversation! All members of the University community are invited to organize book clubs, brownbag lunches, and discussion groups centered on Half the Sky. Discussion groups can now follow our Half the Sky discussion guide, developed by members of the UConn Reads Steering Committee.

We encourage students, faculty, alumni, and others across the UConn community to consider coordinating and leading any number of other events focused on raising awareness about global violence against women, from fundraisers that might benefit one of the charities identified in the book to panel discussions or other educational events that would involve the community.

Resources for Support

Half the Sky highlights often graphic and painful stories of the abuse and torture women and girls face around the world. This material can be difficult, and may trigger difficult feelings. Below, please find the links to sources of support on campus for those who have experienced violence, or for those who love and support someone who has experienced violence.
